Government has observed the need for the private sector to play an active role in the implementation of the Country’s economic recovery programme.

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe says government needs the private sector to create the needed growth for the economy.

Ms. Mwanakatwe says for the fact that government is not in the business of doing business it can only make money when the private sector itself begins to make money.

She states that to this effect government wants to create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

Ms. Mwanakatwe notes that this is as government implements the economic recovery programme in line with its theme of Zambia Plus.

The Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister  was speaking this morning when she officiated at an EY 2017 National Budget Breakfast Forum held in Lusaka.
