Dialysis services to be available in all 10 provinces next month-MOH

The Ministry of Health has announced that all the ten provinces in country will by next month have dialysis clinics offering effective dialysis services.

And there currently about 300 kidney failure patients accessing dialysis treatment in the country.

Ministry of health permanent secretary in-charge of technical services Professor Lackson Kasonka explains that all the provinces apart from Muchinga were offering dialysis services.

 Speaking when he visited he visited kidney transplant patients at the UTH, Professor Kasonka said the demand for dialysis services in Zambia has increased stretching the available dialysis slots.

He says the ministry has in this regard embarked on an ambitious program to expand access to kidney treatment and renal transplant in the country.

Professor Kasonka is elated that the local kidney transplants being conducted in the country will help address the demand for dialysis

Meanwhile Professor Kasonka has today opened the Dr Javias Sialysis Centre which is located at Dr Argawal hospital with a call for the private sector to partner with government in the provision of health services.

And center Director Dr. Bhavesh Javia says the dialysis center which will provide free services to patients for the first three months is aimed at complimenting governments efforts in providing dialysis services to the people.
