The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Muchinga Province has arrested two Tanzanian nationals for drug trafficking.

Juma Barset, 29, a Tanzanian Businessman of Chiyanda village in Nakonde District has been arrested for trafficking in 17 sachets of heroin contrary to Laws of Zambia.

Barset had concealed the drugs in his rectum which were discovered after officers conducted a body search on him.

Also arrested is Elisha Siame, 24, a Tanzanian Chef of Chiyanda village in Nakonde District for trafficking in 1.67Kg of loose cannabis.

Siame is jointly charged with a Zambian, Nervous Simukonda, 22, of the same village.

And in Western Province, the Commission has arrested Nalishebo Simenda, 40, a small-scale farmer of Siasabuzingo village in Mwandi District for trafficking in 31Kg of loose cannabis.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo tells QFM News in a statement that the contraband was concealed in a travelling bag.

Ms Katongo has since indicated that all the suspects will appear in Court soon.
