Opposition Alliance for Democracy (ADD) says it finds the proposed 2017 national budget to be a reflection of how desperate the state of the Zambia economy is.

ADD leader Charles Milupi says the sense his party is getting is that there is virtually no economy in the Country.

Mr. Milupi says by announcing a K64.65 billion national budget out of which K46 billion will be domestic revenues is an admission of how bad the Country’s economy really is.

In an interview with QTV News Mr. Milupi notes that government has accepted that it cannot match up with the revenues that the Country used to generate in last 10 years of about $5 billion annually.

Mr. Milupi says the greatest risk he therefore foresees for next’s national budget is on the revenue side.

He says he is doubtful that there will be sufficient economic activity in the Country to enable the government generate the anticipated domestic revenues.

Mr. Milupi has placed his doubts on the fact that economic activity in the Country has been affected among other factors lack of policy direction from government and power deficits.
