YALI accuses PF MPs of being greedy

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has added its voice in accusing the ruling PF of having passed the motion to AMEND the Republican Constitution in Parliament for selfish reasons.

YALI does not think the ruling PF could have supported the motion which was moved by its Mwansabombwe Member of Parliament Rodgers Mwewa if there was no element of greedy attached.

Governance advisor Isaac Mwanza says it is indisputable fact that MPs who supported the motion had the insight of what they have lost by not being part of the Councils.

Mr. Mwanza says his organization suspects that the main reason the said MPs would like to selectively amend the Constitution is to have power to control the Constituency Development Fund.

He notes that this is besides having control over the Local Government Equalisation as well as get additional sitting allowances during council meetings.

In a statement made to Qfm News Mr. Mwanza notes that YALI finds this alleged selfish motive of the MPs to be so saddening.

He says this is especially that this is coming at a time when slowly, some leaders in Africa and other parts of the world are forgoing their salaries and emoluments to serve communities.

Mr. Mwanza has urged MPs in the Country to realize that the Constitution has confined them to the actual and rightful place where they belong.

He states that this means that delivering development is no longer their duty to as such responsibilities are now for Central and Local Government.
