Parley ratifies Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Parliament has unanimously ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Moving the motion for the ratification of the agreement, Chairman of the Committee on Lands, Environment and Tourism Ephraim Belemu said the Paris Agreement on Climate Change is aimed at strengthening global response in controlling global temperatures.

Mr. Belemu says the agreement is applicable to all member states of the United Nations and thus the need for Zambia to ratify this important agreement.

And Minister of Lands and Environmental Protection Jean Kapata emphasized the political will of the PF Government in ensuring that this agreement is ratified as demonstrated by President Edgar Lungu when he signed the agreement on 20th September, 2016.

Ms Kapata says the benefits of ratifying the agreement cannot be over emphasized.

And Vice President Inonge Wina says Government has decided to ratify the agreement and ensure that Zambia remains actively engaged in addressing climate change challenges.
