The opposition Patriotic Front has demanded for the release of incarcerated former party deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri who has been detained since February this year without trial.
PF information and publicity secretary Raphael Nakacinda tells q news that if there is currently no evidence against her or any justifiable cause for her to remain in custody, Mrs. Phiri must be released forthwith.
Mr. Nakacinda charges that what is currently happening to Mrs. Phiri is an injustice and an abuse to human rights.
He has wondered whether the new dawn administration wants her to remain imprisoned and serve a sentence without going through trial.
And PF media director Antonio Mwanza is shocked that Mrs. Phiri has not been charged with any case from the time she was arrested and continue to languishing in prison.
Mrs. Phiri was formally arrested and jointly charged with former president Edgar Lungu’s barber Shebby Chilekwa for the murder of Lawrence Banda, a UPND member.
