The Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has called upon the auditor general to verify the quality, authenticity and truthfulness of the declarations of assets and liabilities that are being made by the office bearers.

TIZ chapter president Sampa Kalungu says the reason office bearers declare before the chief justice is because they are declaring before the court and any declaration before the courts must be truthful and that the law enforcement agencies  have the right to check if the leaders are sticking to transparency and truthfulness.

And Mr. Kalungu has expressed disappointment towards the delay and reluctant approach in declarations of assets and liabilities by the some executive and legislative office holders.

The transparency international Zambia chapter president has called on the office bearers to apologize to the nation if the delay was deliberately done for having gone against the law which they themselves make and are custodians of by not making the declarations 30 days after their appointments as stipulated by the law.

Recently Zambian legislators from both the opposition and the ruling party have started declaring their assets, liabilities and incomes as required by law since November last year.
