Ten (10)delegates at the on-going African Union Summit have tested positive to COVID-19 out of 1,206 delegates who have so far been screened at Kenneth Kaunda Wing of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) and Hotels.
Speaking during a briefing update on the COVID-19 and other important health matters, Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says as of yesterday, 14th July 2022, the health team screened and tested 890 delegates for COVID-19, and out of these, 8 delegates tested positive.
Ms Masebo says the total number of delegates tested for Covid-19 so far now stands at 1,206.
She says the ministry is isolating and contact tracing all COVID-19 positive contacts.
The Minister adds that only delegates with negative COVID-19 results are being allowed to enter the conference facility.
Meanwhile Ms Masebo has disclosed that the country in the last 24 hours recorded 182 new cases of COVID-19 out of 3,171 tests conducted, representing a 6% positivity rate.
She says ministry has continued to observe positivity above the set threshold for controlled community transmission in some provinces with Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Muchinga, North-western and Western provinces notably having positivity above 5%.
