Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Administration Oliver Kalabo has challenged the Anti-Corruption Commission to up it’s effort in the fight against corruption stating that the country is bleeding because of so much corruption.

Dr. Kalabo says the country is losing millions of Kwacha through corruption which should come to an end.

Speaking when he officiated at the middle management training of Anti-Corruption Commission Staff by the Commonwealth Secretariat in Lusaka today, Dr. Kalabo says government is aware of the devastating effects corruption has on the economic and social development of the nation.

He says the ACC is at the core of economic recovery.

Dr Kalabo notes that for the country to have resources to develop there is need to stop the leakage of resources.

He says it is encouraging to see the ACC investing time and resources to support it’s staff to increase efficiency and productivity.

Dr Kalabo has also thanked the Commonwealth secretariat for funding the ACC staff management training.

Speaking at the same event, Commonwealth Head of Public sector Governance, Dr. Roger Koranteng says the ACC has been faced with a number of challenges among them lack of funds to conduct awareness programs, hence the need for Government to continue providing adequate resources for such programmes.

And Anti Corruption Commission ACC acting Director General Silumesi Muchula says the equipping of 56 ACC senior staff members with skills in managing Anti-corruption Agencies for corruption control will strengthen the capacity of the institution to promote efficiency, transparency and accountability in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
