Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has commissioned the US$65 million Kenneth Kaunda International Conference facility at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre ahead of the African Union Heads of State and Government July summit.
And president Hichilema has used the occasion to warn those involved in government projects to desist from inflating projects costs for personal gain.
He has reemphasized on the need to deliver projects at the right price and on time.
President Hichilema says the increased CDF must deliver developmental projects commensurate with the needs of the people at the right price and of high quality.
And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Du Xinhua says the funding of the 2,500 seating capacity Kenneth Kaunda Conference facility wing is a demonstration of the strong bilateral relations between Zambia and China.
Mr Xinhua says in 2021, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries achieved remarkable growth of 23 percent against the global economic downturn and created more than 50,000 job opportunities in Zambia.
Speaking earlier, Lusaka province Minister Sheal Mulyata says the facility is a tool that will be used to market the province and the nation at large as a tourism and business destination.
