Zambia has received a donation of over 250,000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines worth over 4.8 million euros.

The vaccines received today are the first batch of a total of 500,000 Pfizer vaccine doses donated to Zambia, with the second batch expected in the county by mid June this year.

Speaking when receiving the vaccines at Kenneth Kaunda international Airport, ministry of health permanent secretary for technical services, Professor Lackson Kasonka expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for the show of solidarity through the donation of the vaccines.

Professor Kasonka says the donation could not have come at a better time than now when there is a heightened vaccination drive in the country.

And speaking earlier, Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Zambia, Pavel Prochazka expressed hope that the donation will provide a boost to the ongoing vaccination campaign.

He says the donation reemphasizes his country’s willingness to work closely with Zambia in expanding cooperation in all areas of the health care.
