Govt extends covid-19 vaccination campaign for five more days

Government through the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has extended the covid-19 vaccination campaign for five more days to end on Monday 30th may 2022.

Announcing the development at a press briefing Acting Health Minister, Charles Milupi says the extension has been necessitated by the overwhelming response throughout the country. 

Mr. Milupi has further announced that over 1 million doses have been administered in the last 10 days of which about 436,000 were among new vaccines with the vaccination coverage of those fully vaccinated currently standing at 28.2%.

He has reiterated the warning of the risk of an upsurge due to the increased cases that are being recorded in other countries hence the need for at least 70 percent of the eligible population to get vaccinated.
