Zambia Climate Change Network (ZCCN) Project Development Officer, Ali Kaunda has attributed the reduction in Zambia’s life expectancy currently at less than 55-years to the consumption of non-organic foods.

Mr. Kaunda says consumption of food that is as a result of chemicals in most cases results in human body reactions that even lead to reduction in one’s life span due to toxic chemicals.

He says this can be addressed by encouraging farmers to adopt good and sustainable agriculture practices and produce more organic food to flood the market.

Mr. Kaunda says in view of the ongoing geopolitical tension between Russia and Ukraine which is expected to affect the cost of fertilizers on the market, farmers should consider adopting good agricultural practices that are organic and not only healthy to humans, but equally environmentally friendly.
