ZRA advised to quickly explore the risk factors that come with a digital economy

Zambia Tax Platform (ZTP) has called on the ministry of finance and national planning and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) to quickly explore the risk factors that come with a digital economy and come up with a mechanism to capture all digital transactions especially those carried on mobile platforms for purposes of taxation.

ZTA coordinator Ibrahim Kamara says transactions in the digital economy are different from the ordinary economy in the sense that many digital transactions may remain un-captured.

Mr Kamara says this may be a drain on revenue resources because digital transactions may not be traced.

Mr. Kamara has further noted the need for ZRA to enhance its system and tap into the opportunities in the digital economy to increase revenue collection.
