The Zambia Medical Association says it’s in full support of the reintroduction of licensure examinations by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

Association Secretary General, Dr.Roy Tolopu has said the Association being the official representative of medical doctors and dental surgeons in the country is behind the HPCZ.

Dr. Tolopu says the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia and the Students Charter who are opposing the licensure exams are both affiliate bodies of the Association which approved the idea to support the reintroduction of the examinations.

He notes that there are a lot of schools that have mushroomed and are offering substandard trainings of health personnel which needs to be addressed through the examinations.
