The opposition Socialist Party on the Copperbelt says Zambia’s economic situation has worsened in the last five months of the implementation of the first national budget of the new dawn government.

Socialist Party Copperbelt spokesperson Joseph Kangwa says though it may be too early to insinuate that President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has failed to address the social and economic challenges facing the country, the thesis is that it indicts the failure of the government to address and resolve, these problems.

In a statement issued to Q-news, Mr. Kangwa says the removal of fuel subsides has had a ripple effect on the already high prices of goods and services such as mealie meal, cooking oil, sugar, salt, transport among others, while hospitals have continued lacking essential medicines

He says this state of affairs has exacerbated the suffering of the poor people.

Mr. Kangwa says an urgent action to the current overwhelmed social and economic situation by the government cannot be overemphasized.
