Parliamentary Committee on Gender and National Values Chairperson Harry Kamboni has observed that the current curriculum for tertiary institutions In Zambia is not very supportive to persons with disabilities particularly the deaf.

Mr. Kamboni says in an interview that persons with disabilities especially the deaf find it challenging to fit in with tertiary education due to communication breakdown.

He says women and girls living with disabilities have ended up being victims of such lacuna in the curriculum because they are already vulnerable by their gender.

Mr. Kamboni adds that his committee will soon present a report to parliament which will among other things present a true picture of the vulnerability of persons with disabilities in tertiary institutions.

He says the committee is conducting tours across different provinces to ascertain the levels of inclusivity in a wide range of sectors including infrastructure and how it accommodates persons with disability.
