MOH to launch a Covid-19 vaccination campaign

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo has announced that government will tomorrow,14th May,2022 launch a ten day nation-wide Covid-19 vaccination campaign to boost vaccination levels.

Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka today, Ms Masebo says the campaign which will be flagged-off by Vice President Mutale Nalumango in Solwezi is aimed at boosting vaccination levels of all eligible persons to at least 70 percent from the current 22 per cent.

She explains that Zambia is expected to reach the target of 50 per cent vaccination rate of all eligible persons by June as other countries in the region have already reached the 50 per cent mark.

Ms Masebo says the success of the campaign is government’s hope for controlling the virus.

The Minister states that only then can government consider reviewing the mandatory wearing of face masks in public.        

Meanwhile, Mrs Masebo has disclosed that Zambia has in the last 24-hours recorded 69 new confirmed Covid-19 cases detected across 23 districts from a total of 1 thousand 8 hundred and 69 tests conducted across all provinces.
