Minister of community development and social services Doreen Mwamba says government put in place deliberate efforts to accelerate the inclusion of persons with disabilities in national development.

Speaking when she received a disability report from Good will ambassador of persons living with disabilities Elijah Ngwale, Ms Mwamba says this is evident from the from the appointment of a number of persons living with disabilities to important positions of governance.

She says this will be the norm going forward so that persons living with disabilities are allowed to occupy positions that will influence decisions affecting them and also contribute to matters of national interest.

The Minister says the spirit of interaction and understanding between government and persons living with disabilities should continue so that great results are achieved.

Speaking earlier, Good will ambassador for persons living with disabilities, Elijah Ngwale noted the need for equal inclusion of persons living with disabilities in the governance of this country.

Mr Ngwale laments that for a long time now; persons living with disabilities have been excluded from the governance of this country and used as profit making entities.

Meanwhile the minister has handed over 21 vehicles to various districts which will be used to support the rollout of the supporting women’s livelihoods and social cash transfer program.

Ms Mwamba has warned that the vehicles must be used effectively and efficiently to implement the two programs and not for personal use.
