The MISA Zambia is dismayed by the derogatory remarks made by a social media user regards female journalists in Zambia in relation to their pay.

In a statement, MISA Zambia chairperson Fr.Dr Barnabas Simatende says the remarks are not only in bad taste, but an insult to the journalism fraternity and the women of Zambia at large.

Fr Simatende notes that the remarks were made by someone who has been entrusted to enforce Zambian laws which among other forbid discrimination against persons based on their gender.

He says the remark is very demeaning and an affront to the work of female Zambian journalists who toil tirelessly to keep the Zambian people informed on the goings on within their communities, the country and the globe.

Fr Simatende has further described the remarks as dangerous especially that they have a ripple effect and may cause females and other persons aspiring to become journalists to shun the profession based on uninformed conclusions from careless persons who have no regard for the work of Journalists, particularly female media practitioners.
