The family of former Zambia National Team Doctor Joseph Kabungo has demanded for justice following the death of their relative during a FIFA world cup qualifiers match in Abuja, on 29th march, 2022.
In a press briefing today, the family is also calling on CAF and FIFA to avail it with official footage from within the premises where their relative is said to have collapsed from and died.
Dr. Kabungo is said to have collapsed after chaos ensued in the stadium when fans invaded the pitch after Nigeria failed to secure qualification to the 2022 world cup against Ghana.
And family representative Webster Nonde who is also elder brother to the late Dr Kabungo says the family wants to know who was responsible to ensure the security of Dr. Kabungo who was on duty as a VIP official under FIFA.
Mr. Nonde explained that one of the FIFA requirements for such high profile games like the one where Dr. Kabungo was caught in the fracas from, as proper monitoring cameras hence the football governing bodies should avail the family with footage to them.
And Mr. Nonde has called on FIFA and CAF together with the Nigeria Football Federation to constitute an inquest to investigate thoroughly and fairly so as to reveal the preceding events that culminates into the death of Dr. Kabungo.
And Mr. Nonde has called on FIFA to compensate the family of the late Dr. Kabungo who died in the line of duty because he has left behind four children and a widow who will need support.
