Kabwe Municipal Council Public Relations Manager Nancy Chenga says the local authority will soon be meeting residents of Mpima area to sensitize them on the need to formalize their stay in the area.

Ms Chenga says the area was recently degazetted by government and the settlers are required by law to complete the paperwork that will legalize their stay in the area that used to be a national forest.

She has told Q-News that the local authority is still waiting for direction from the minister of local government and rural development Garry Nkombo before proceeding to engage with the residents.

And Ms. Chenga disclosed that those who have applied for plots following the degazetting of the area will soon start receiving their pieces of land immediately after completing their paperwork.
