About 5,000 grade 12 school leavers to benefit from ICOF bursaries

About 5,000 grade 12 school leavers across the country will benefit from free college education under the international coalition of fellowships (ICOF) online and distance education through a 100 per cent bursaries support.

This follows government providing 40 per cent of the k4 million tuition fees towards the community education scholarships Programme under ICOF.

And eastern province minister, Peter Phiri today launched the ICOF classes for the 2022 intake for the province at Chipata School of education.

The minister said that government’s contribution towards the bursary fees is a clear indication of its commitment to promote youth empowerment through access to free tertiary education.

The minister also thanked icof for partnering with government that gives an opportunity to 500 school leavers to undertake free college education that will offer them a career to pursue in life.

He also directed all town councils in the province to expedite the paying of bursaries under the constituency development fund (cdf) before schools open for second term.

and speaking earlier when he paid a courtesy call on the provincial minister, ICOF vice chancellor for Africa, Charles Mwape disclosed that the in teaching, theology, psychosocial counselling and leadership management that ICOF offers are beneficial to society.

And a JabesMweemba, student beneficiary from the ICOF community bursaries thanked President Hakainde Hichilema and government for offering vulnerable children free education.
