Chief Government Spokesperson Chushi Kasanda has described as highly hypocritical the zeal that the opposition Patriotic Front now wants to demonstrate on the need to enact the Access to Information bill which they denied the Zambian people during the 10 years that they were in power.

In a statement, Ms Kasanda has reminded the PF that they had 10-years to enact the ATI bill which they failed to do.

She says PF should therefore, not portray themselves as champions of a law that they actually did not believe in.

Ms Kasanda says instead of giving freedom to the media and the people of Zambia to express themselves, the PF clamped down on the freedom of expression through arrests of anyone who opposed them.

She says the PF should be the last ones to talk about freedom.

Ms Kasanda who is also Minister of Information and Media says Zambians have not forgotten the brutal attacks on radio and television stations and other media platforms that tried to feature the opposition voices.

She states that this and other maladministration is what the new dawn government is dismantling to transform the country into a true democracy where people are free to enjoy their rights including freedom of expression.
