Volunteer Teachers ask govt to place them on payroll

A team of teachers working in government schools but not on the payroll have asked the Ministry of Education to give a clear roadmap as to when government will put them on government’s payroll.

The Representatives who withheld their names for fear of victimization says it is saddening to note that some teachers have continued to operate without salaries for more than two years, a situation they said needs to be addressed within the shortest period of time.

In a circular sent to provincial education offices and district education board secretaries, the teachers requested for justice from the ministry of education permanent secretary but all their efforts have been in vain with no response given.

The teachers have complained that despite the ministry promising them with authentic letters to be put on payroll on the month end of March and April, 2022, the ministry has not revealed any information on the matter.

They have since appealed to the ministry of education to issue an official statement on when the teachers will be put on payroll as they have waited for a long time.
