No polio case recorded in the country so far – MOH

The ministry of health says it is alert and doing everything possible to prevent an importation of polio in Zambia.

ministry of health director for health promotions, environment and social determinate dr. able Kabalo has reiterated and assured that Zambia has not recorded any polio cases following the outbreak of the disease in the neighbouring Malawi.

 Dr. Kabalo has however, urged parents and guardians to ensure their children under the age of 5 are vaccinated and protected against polio in the ongoing polio immunization campaign phase 2 which will run from 25th to 28th april to be conducted door to door.

 He said this during the media tour and sensitization programme on polio vaccination held at George clinic in Matero constituency.

And some parents talked to whose children were vaccinated encouraged other parents to have their children vaccinated.

Deborah Tembo says there is nothing to fear about polio vaccines as they are not harmful to children.
