All Cholera cases in Lusaka, treated and discharged – MOH

The ministry of health says it has treated and discharged all the cholera cases recorded in Lusaka, Chilanga, Chongwe and Nsama districts.

Updating the nation on the Covid 19 and cholera situation in the country, health minister Sylvia Masebo disclosed that by 06:00 this morning the country did not have any confirmed cholera cases admitted to health facilities.

Ms Masebo further disclosed that the 9 cases which were recorded in Lusaka and Chilanga districts have been discharged including the one case confirmed in Nsama.

And the minister says a cumulative number of 16,240 people have received the oral cholera vaccine, of which 7,652 are from chilanga and 8,588 from Lusaka hot spot areas.

Meanwhile Ms. Masebo says Zambia in the last 24 hours recorded 1 Covid 19 death with 130 new cases out of 2,923 tests conducted countrywide.

She says in the last 7 days, 24 new admissions and 746 discharges were recorded of which 18 were from healthcare facility and 728 homecare management with 5 covid-19 related deaths we recorded.

The minister has lamented that the current picture in the country is that covid-19 is still a threat to lives and livelihoods with the current omicron variant and its sub-variants causing a continued spike or surges in cases.
