Stop smoking shisha, Dr Mwamulela warns pregnant women

Zambia Tobacco Consortium Control Vice Chairperson Dr Webby Mwamulela has called upon pregnant women to avoid smoking shisha.

Dr. Mwamulela who spoke in an interview with Q News notes that shisha contains harmful substances such as nicotine, tar among others that can lead to problems to any pregnancy by damaging the fetus.

He is worried with the continued uptake of shisha by pregnant women which he said could lead to loosen of body muscles that would result to premature delivery of the baby.

Dr. Mwamulela notes that pregnant women have compromised immune system that makes them vulnerable to contracting diseases that come as a result of smoking tobacco hence the need for them to stay away.
