Economist Trevor Hambayi has urged the new dawn government not to go ahead and remove the remaining subsidies on fuel in June, but wait for the Geo-political tension between Russia and Ukraine to come to an end.
Speaking in a telephone interview with q-news, Mr. Hambayi says this will help in stabilizing the economy.
He has also called on the ministry of energy to come out clearly and inform the Zambian people how much subsidy is still remaining on fuel instead of simply stating that there are still subsidies on fuel.
Recently, Minister of Energy Peter Kapala indicated that fuel prices in the country are still subsidized and that government will remove the remaining subsidies by the Month end of June.
