The Lusaka city council has received a request from the university teaching hospital (UTH) to bury 42 unclaimed bodies which has given rise to an unpleasant mortuary environment contrary to the public health act cap 295 of the laws of Zambia.

Council public relations officer Emmanuel Lupikisha says a 14 days period has been assigned from the date of release of the public notice for  members of the general public to claim and identify any of the bodies and conduct burial.

Mr. Lupikisha has appealed to members of the public who may be missing their relatives or friends to engage UTH management for possible identification of the body.

He says at the expiry of the assigned period, all bodies that will not be claimed will be buried at chingwere cemetery.
