Timber Association of Zambia (TAZ) president Charles Masange says the decision by government to start giving concessional licenses to timber species only, will create a window for corruption.

Last week, Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu announced that government will this month commence the issuance of timber concession licenses excluding Mukula.

And commenting on the development, Mr. Masange tells Q news that government should consider opening concessional licenses for all species unlike a situation where only timber species are given licenses.

Mr. Masange says there is need for government to be transparent and do things differently, hence urging government to reconsider and allow for licenses for all species in order to avoid a situation where people will start exporting illegally.
