NHIMA pays of over K130 million values of claims

The National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) says over K130 million values of claims have been paid to cover client cost for accessing accredited public and private hospitals under NHIMA in the first quarter of 2022 compared to k85 million paid in the fourth quarter of 2021.

And the authority recorded a 60 percent increase in people accessing NHIMA services from accredited public and private facilities in the past three months of 2021.

NHIMA director general James Kapesa tells q news that about 236,000 citizens

Had accessed accredited public and private institutions under NHIMA  between January and march 2022, compared to 147,000 recorded in the fourth quarter of 2021.

He has further disclosed that over 800,000 Zambians out of the 1.4 million registered NHIMA clients have gone through or accessed the scheme since its inception using either private or public health facilities.

Meanwhile Mr. Kapesa has warned employers against invasion or avoidance of submitting their workers monthly contributions, stating that a growing trend has been noted of employers avoiding to submit their workers monthly contribution despite the slight decrease in monthly contribution per person from k60 to k56.
