Zambia selected for the technology assessment project – Mutati

Zambia has been selected by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to among three Sub-saharan countries to implement the technology assessment project.

The Technology Assessment project is a two year project covering the energy and agriculture sectors were science, technology and innovation will be used as catalysts.

Announcing the development at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Technology and Science Minister, Felix Mutati says the project has come at the right time when Zambia is due to launch the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP).

Mr Mutati says the project will help policy makers, universities, public and private sectors understand better the concept of technology assessment in national development.

The Minister has since expressed confidence that Zambia’s technology sector will be improved by the end of the project.

Speaking at the same briefing, Global Institute for Technology Assessment Coordinator, Dr Miltos Ladikas says the institute looks forward to the implementation of the project in Zambia which is expected to help policy makers and the private sector to enhance technology transfer and acquisition for sustainable development.
