Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Elias Mubanga has reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s commitment to further improve the business environment within which the private sector operates.
Mr Mubanga says this can be seen through the creation of a specific ministry responsible for small and medium enterprises development whose aim is to foster the growth of small and medium enterprises in order to create jobs and wealth across the country.
Speaking during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the visiting Finnish Deputy Minister for International Trade, Mr Mubanga assured both Finnish and Zambian businesses especially the SMEs that his ministry is readily available to offer support in order for them to conduct business smoothly in Zambia.
He adds that government has recognized the importance of the SMEs sector and its contribution to the economic development.
Mr Mubanga says it is against this background that government through the ministry of Small and medium enterprise development is proposing for a policy shift that will ensure that support becomes holistic so that the needs of the SMEs are met with specific interventions.
Speaking earlier, Finnish deputy Minister for international trade, Nina Vaskunlahti said the new partnership between the two countries with emphasis on the private sector development will cement the existing relationship.
