The World Bank has given Zambia 191.5 million U.S. dollars towards the Social Cash Transfer to ensure the livelihoods of vulnerable people are safeguarded.

Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba says the Swedish government and a British, American, and Irish consortium has also provided financing to the Social Cash Transfer program.

Ms. Mwamba has since assured the donor community that government will ensure there is prudent utilization of the resources.

And Ms. Mwamba has dismissed assertions that people who are not entitled to receive the Social Cash Transfer support are the ones receiving the funds.

She states that the ministry will from now until August start witnessing the payment of Social Cash Transfer funds to beneficiaries to curb these speculations.

Ms. Mwamba says government remains committed to increasing access to livelihood support for extremely poor women.
