Social Economist Kelvin Chisanga has noted that the monthly fuel price review adopted by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) is disadvantaging the business sector.

Mr. Chisanga has told QTV news in an interview that it is very hard for business people to maintain stability in their commodity prices because most of them are interdependent on the pricing of petroleum products.

He says the national monetary policy is tailored to run on at least a quarterly basis, hence the monthly review of fuel pump prices has failed to be in tandem with the policy, a situation which triggers the aspect of instability in inflation rate.

Mr. Chisanga notes that Zambia does not have better ways of modeling economic fundamentals the reason why the bank of Zambia often comes in with artificial measures to stabilize the economy which is usually not sustainable in the long run.
