Opposition Patriotic Front Matero Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa has charged that the 2022 national budget is on the verge of collapsing because the expenditure side has far outweighed anticipated and actualized revenues.
Mr. Sampa states that the 2022 national budget which he has described as the best ever in the history of nation is likely to fail to meet its intended purpose.
He says this is because of the bigger income lines are heavily dependent on external loans.
Mr Sampa who once served as Deputy Finance Minister has says as long as the government does not tax the mines fairly and knows what is exported; Zambians will remain in poverty while the minerals are being used to develop the west.
Meanwhile Mr. Sampa has further predicted that despite the current surge in copper prices, all the foreign owned mines in Zambia will have their end of year profit and loss statements show huge losses because of the Ukraine/Russia war even though they do not sell copper to either countries.
