Bus fares increased

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has announced the revised bus fares.

which has been increased by between K2 and K5 for local, Lusaka peri urban and inter mines Copperbelt roots respectively.

Intercity roots have been increased by 15%.

The new bus fares are effective 5th April 2022

earlier Transport Minister Frank Tayali approved the request by bus operators for an in increase bus fares following the increase in fuel pump prices announced by the Energy Regulation Board last week.

And Mr. Tayali has called on commuters to know their rights so that they are not disadvantaged by some bus operators who are in a habit of coming up with their own fares whenever fuel is increased.

He says before a formal announcement is made by RTSA on the upward and downward adjustment in fares, no one should be subjected to paying an illegal fare.

The Minister says prior to any official announcement being made, it is wrong for bus operators to subject citizens to paying illegal fares.
