The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has noted with concern the poor reading culture in most Zambian government schools which has been attributed to non-availability of literature books in most libraries in public schools.

UBA Head of Marketing and Cooperate Communications Wezi Njovu has noted the increasing poor reading culture in the country and the lack of literature books which she says her bank has taken up to donate books to various schools.

Ms. Njovu adds that pupils cannot be good in English without reading widely hence the need for learners to embrace reading as a culture saying this will keep them away from wrong vices such as drug abuse and alcohol intake.

She notes that Zambians have been known for shunning away from reading a notion that she says should change.
