The National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) has given the ministry of education and teaching service commission a one month ultimatum to ensure that all the teachers who have been paid their retirement packages should vacate institutional houses.

Union Executive President Victor Muyumba says this will pave way for those who are still in service to occupy the institutional houses.

Mr. Muyumba says NUPPEZ has noted with concern that a lot of retirees are still holding on to institutional houses despite receiving their full pensions thereby impacting negatively on those who are in service.

In a press briefing today, Mr. Muyumba says time has come for young teachers to also enjoy the full benefits that come with being employed.

And Mr. Muyumba has implored government to revise the retirement age back to what it was before it was changed to what it is now as part of the pension reforms at the National Pension Scheme Authority [NAPSA].
