Some former Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) members have welcomed the decision by the Labour Commissioner to dissolve the National, Provincial and district leaderships of the union.
PROTUZ founder member Chisanga Mumba says this development will greatly help the Union to start afresh, heal the deep rooted divisions AND face the future as a united labour entity.
In a letter to all PROTUZ members dated 22nd March, 2022,the Labour Commissioner has guided the general membership on why the organization is now without leadership and how the life of PROTUZ will be sustained.
Mr. Mumba says the dissolution of the PROTUZ leadership is legal because the union last held an elective Congress on 23rd June ,2016.
He says this clearly means that the mandate of those who were elected in 2016 came to an end in JUNE,2020.
