Chief Government Spokesperson Chushi Kasanda has dispelled social media reports that confederation of African football -CAF and FIFA Medical Officer Joseph Kabungo died in a stampede by fans at a stadium in Nigeria.
In a statement, Ms. Kasanda says Dr. Kabungo died in Nigeria where he was the CAF anti-doping officer.
Ms .Kasanda says the Zambian High Commissioner in that country says Dr. Kabungo had earlier informed other officers on duty that he was feeling tired.
Ms. Kasanda says the public should therefore ignore a statement suggesting that Dr. Kabungo died as a result of the stampede.
She has described the death of Dr. Kabungo as a loss to the nation.
