The Nongovernmental Gender Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has expressed concern over the continued cyber bullying and online violence targeted mainly at women in politics and key decision making positions in both the public and private sectors.

Addressing the media this morning, outgoing NGOCC Executive Director, Engwase Mwale laments that the current cyber bullying against women is dimming their aspirations and demotivating them in their quest to effective participate and contribute to governance and national matters.

Ms Mwale notes that while most cases have mainly been against women in politics, there is now a growing trend of attacks on women in both the public and private sectors with the most recent victim being Information and media minister Chushi Kasanda who was cyber bullied arising from a common mistake of failing to pronounce a word.

She has since called upon the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority ZICTA to curb all online violence against women and girls in the cyberspace.

And Mrs Ngwale has announced departure from the NGOCC effective 31st March,2022 after serving the organization for 17-years.

She will be replaced by Ms Anna Anamela effective April 1st, 2022.
