The Southern African Cross Border Traders Association (SACBTA) is encouraging unvaccinated cross border traders to get fully vaccinated in order to benefit from the Zambian government’s revised covid-19 guidelines for travelers.

The Zambian government has revised the Covid 19 guidelines for travelers at all points of entry with travelers now required to only provide proof of full vaccination as opposed to previously when they had to also provide a form of a negative test.

Association Secretary General, Jacob Makambwe has noted with concern and regret that some cross border traders are still unvaccinated owing to misconceptions on the vaccines and have been relying on providing covid-19 negative test results.

Speaking to Q-News, Mr. Makambwe, who has thanked the government for revising the guidelines, says the new guidelines will help reduce on the cost of travel for the traders owing to the high cost of PCR tests.

He has also appealed to the Zambian government to allow the issuance of Covid certificates at health points at a minimal fee which traders can use in countries where the guidelines have not yet been eased and revised.
