Chile’s ambassador to Brazil Fernando Schmidt has sent a message of condolences to the Zambian government and the people of Zambia over the demise of fourth president Rupiah Bwezani Banda.
Mr. Schmidt described the former president as a great leader who made significant contributions to the diplomatic community and the United Nations when he served as permanent representative to the UN.
The Chilean envoy says this after signing the book of condolences at the Zambian chancery in Brasilia.
Mr Schmidt has urged Zambia to continue embracing the peace it has enjoyed since independence which freedom fighters struggled to attain.
He also says Chile was committed towards deepening economic cooperation with Zambia.
And Brazil’s African group of ambassador’s chairperson Dr Martin Mbeng who is also Cameroonian ambassador to Brazil says the African group of ambassadors in Brazil commiserates with the people of Zambia over the death of the country’s fourth president who contributed greatly to economic growth both locally and internationally.
Meanwhile Libya’s Charge’ De Affairs to Brazil Abdulmula Albeksh has expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, as well as to the government and the people of Zambia.
And the Zambian Embassy in Brazil Charge’ De Affairs Dr Mutale Chimutete has thanked the envoys in Brazil for taking time to visit the chancery to pass their message of condolences.
Other Ambassadors that wished Zambia good will messages during this trying period are envoys from South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Angola and Tanzania, Mozambique Botswana and Democratic Republic of Congo.
