The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has urged the government to walk the talk and expedite the Constitutional reform process and review of subsidiary legislation including the amendment of the Public Order Act, Electoral Process Act among others.

JCTR programmes Manager, Muchimba Siamachoka says the government must ensure that in the shortest time possible, a comprehensive roadmap is made available to allow for the meaningful participation of various stakeholders.

In his state of the nation address last week, President Hakainde Hichilema indicated that the government shall undertake all necessary measures to gather and build consensus with all stakeholders on how best to have a constitution that reflects the country’s shared and cherished aspirations as a people.

Ms. Siamachoka has told QTV News that JCTR is elated with the open declaration by the government to prioritise constitutional reform.

Meanwhile Ms. Siamachoka has urged the government to prioritise the enactment of THE access to information legislation as this is smoothest avenue to promoting accountability, transparency, responsibility and combating corruption.
