Former Chreso University Vice chancellor Dr. Lawrence Mwelwa has challenged marriage counselors and religious leaders in the country to focus on building the moral fiber in marriages.

Speaking in an interview with Q-news, Dr. Mwelwa observes that divorce statistics in the country have continued to increase despite having competent marriage counselors and religious leaders.

He says there is need for marriage counselors and religious leaders to up their game in order to address this situation.

Dr. Mwelwa further notes that divorce cases have greatly contributed to the continued moral decay the country has continued to experience such as the increase in suicide cases, teenage pregnancies by children growing without both parents, and the increase in street kids among others.

He has since urged religious leaders and marriage counselors to enhance their lessons on marriage to married couples to help build the moral fiber.
