Several dignitaries and Zambians from all walks of life have continued to flock to Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka to pay their last respects to fourth republican President Rupiah Banda who died on Friday last week.

Colonel Panji Kaunda, the eldest son of late first republican president Kenneth Kaunda has described the death of President Banda as a double loss for the country.

Colonel Kaunda says Mr Banda played a critical role in deepening the country’s democracy.

He says Mr Banda led a team that convinced President Kaunda to hold the 1991 general election.

And New Heritage Party president Chishala Kateka has described the late fourth president as a unifier and gallant leader who led the country to higher economic growth.

Meanwhile UNIP president Bishop Trevor Mwamba has described president Banda as a man who diligently served the nation.

And New Hope MMD president Dr. Nevers Mumba says president Banda understood well international relations and that during his reign Zambia attracted massive foreign investment.
