Integrated Community Anti Litter Initiative has called on the newly approved members of the Lusaka solid waste management utility board to quickly initiate policies which will promote value addition to waste through establishment of large scale recycling companies.

Initiative Chairperson, Pascal Chikumbi says this will help change the city’s current status of uncollected garbage to clean, green and healthy.

In an interview with Q-News, Mr Chikumbi tells Q-News that the approved appointment of a nine member team of Lusaka solid waste management utility board by Cabinet recently will help to reduce pressure on the Lusaka city council which has been grabbling with effective waste management.

He is confident that the appointment of the board is timely and hopes the same will be extended to other densely populated cities which are facing similar challenges such as Ndola.
